Paul Marshall Bray is an Albany attorney. He is also Editor of Capital Commons Quarterly: The Dynamics of Aging and Our Communities (http://www.albanyguardiansociety.org).His column appears monthly in the Times Union (http://www.timesunion.com/paul_bray/). Bray has lectured at colleges and universities including the University of Wisconsin, Colorado State University, Cornell University, Albany Law School, RPI, Canicius, University of Florence, Italy, Sapienza, Rome, Italy, University of Camerino, Italy, Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, Pisa, Italy and University of Pavia, Italy and before many civic and professional organizations on conservation, environmental law, regional planning and urban issues. He is a former lecturer in the Department of Geography and Planning at the University at Albany. Bray's has extensive experience with the New York State legislature as a primary draftsman of many state laws in fields including the environment, health and education. He was Associate Counsel, Commissioner's Policy Office at the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. He also was the founder of the inter-municipal Hudson Mohawk Urban Cultural Park Commission (New York State's first heritage area), founding President of the Albany Roundtable Civic Lunch Forum and founding Director of the New York Park and Conservation Association. He has served on many Boards of nonprofit organizations and is a member of the World Commission on Protected Areas. He is the recipient of numerous honors, awards and recognitions including the Rome Prize from the American Academy in Rome.
